</div><p>It has been a while since my last visit to KL last year in Apr. Most of the people, that I know of, will usually drive up for a short trip. For me, driving up to KL is a strict no no as I always find that security is a big concern. As such, I do not want to subject myself to undue stress over a vacation.</p>
<p>So, I decided to fly in instead. There are many flight options from Singapore to KL. Flight time is about an hour compared to driving which takes about 4 hours.</p>
<p>Most economical way is to fly via budget air like Scoot, AirAsia or Jetstar. During off peak season, you may get a return ticket for as low as below $100. As I am taking advantage of the Good Friday holiday, ticket prices are slightly on the higher side especially on a weekend. I chose to fly via Malindo Air instead, a full fledge airline at a cost almost comparable with budget air tickets with the baggage and seats added on.</p>
<p>This trip is mainly a fooding trip, to catch up on my to-eat list. At the same time, enjoy a short re-charge and importantly spending quality bonding time with family.</p>
<p>Whenever I am in KL, I will engage my regular reliable transport provider, Mr Lau whom I have known for a couple of years. He will always be there to fetch me from the Airport to The Gardens in Mid Valley. Mr Lau is friendly, trustworthy and importantly, always on time. A single trip cost about MYR 120. A safe and reliable service is what I needed, though some of us may prefer cheaper option like hailing a Grab Taxi.</p>
<p>For those of you who are keen to engage his transport service, he can be contacted at +60 12 367 8085.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4034 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_100039.jpg" width="3024" height="4032"></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4006" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_132510.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>I stayed at the The Gardens Residence for this visit as it is right in the heart of Mid Valley Mega Mall. This is where all the actions are. You have everything self-contained under one roof from shopping, international food cusines, movie theatres, etc. You name it, you have it. There are 3 main hotels here; Cititel, The Boulevard &; The Gardens. Price ranges from the same sequence as well from low to high. ð</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4007 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pt2018_03_30_17_02_32.jpg" width="1500" height="1500"></p>
<p>The 2 bedroom apartment is clean, huge and spacious (130 sqm).</p>
<p>Immediately after check-in, started to work on embarking on my food trail.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4008" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pt2018_03_30_17_06_17.jpg" width="1000" height="1500"></p>
<p>First on my list will be the Village Roast Duck Restaurant located at B1 of the Mid Valley Mega Mall.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4009 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135018.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Star of the meal &#8211; Special Roast Duck Cantonese Style. This is a die-die must order dish.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4010 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135048.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Another not to be missed will be the Honey Glazed Barbeque Pork which literally melts in your mouth type.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4011 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135033.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>A plate of plain noodle would be the most preferred choice to go along with the roast duck and BBQ pork.</p>
<p>There are other champion menus which are highly recommended too.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4012" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135807.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Stir Fried Four Types of Vegetable with Sambal Sauce a.k.a The 4 Heavenly Kings (å大天ç).</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4013" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135646.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Stuffed Chili, Auberine &; Beancurd with Minced Prawn. Yong Tau Foo lovers, this is not to be missed.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4014 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135500.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Poached Chinese Spinach with Pork Stock. The soup is really refreshing.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4015" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_135603.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Last but not least, the traditional KL Hokkien Fried Noodle. The noodle is thick like Udon. Sinfully good with abundance serving of pork lard condiment.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4018 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_162220.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Next trail will be tea time break at Nonya Colors. If you want to have a good selection of nonya kuehs, you need to be early as the kuehs run out real fast.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4043 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_162233_mh1522487095599.jpg" width="2160" height="1620"></p>
<p>Look at the kueh counters, almost all the nonya kuehs are snapped out by now. ð¯</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4042 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_111226.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>This is what it is supposed to be like.</p>
<p>They serve a great varieties of nice kueh kueh here.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4020 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_162125.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>My personal favourites are the kochi nonya with gula melaka coconut filling and ang ku with mung bean filling.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4045" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_1118271.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>There are other nice kuehs like pulut tai-tai (glutinous rice with pandan kaya), lapis beras and lempat pisang.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4021 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_162143.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Another recommended item will be the Roti Jala with Curry Chicken. Something to die for&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;</p>
<p><img class="wp-image-4048 alignnone size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_111041_mh1522487984013.jpg" width="2160" height="1620"></p>
<p><img class="wp-image-4046 alignnone size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_112420.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>This is the cucur udang (fried prawn fritters) and it goes superbly well with the sweet chili sauce. Highly recommended to try as well. ð</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4047" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_112444.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>If you are looking for a light breakfast or tea time snack, their Thai Bee Hoon is definitely a great option to go for.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4075" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/20180401_085148.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Their traditional Nasi Lemak is also one other option too.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4022" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_162402.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Lastly, a good finale will be none other than having a bowl of solid Chendol as a round up.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4024 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pt2018_03_30_20_20_09.jpg" width="1000" height="3664"></p>
<p>There is a Kit Kat Factory at the Mid Valley Mall where you can design your very own Kit Kat flavour and packaging. It makes a great gift though.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4049 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_120753.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>This time round, they are running a special edition Kit Kat for their traditional Malaysian Nasi Lemak &; Ice Kachang flavour chocolate. Pretty unique I must admit. Really enjoy the free sampling.</p>
<p>There are a lot of Malaysian cuisine to be feasted and Mdm Kwan is one such place.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4028 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_211742.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>They do have a branch back home in Vivo City, only difference is that you will get to enjoy a fraction of the price here compared to back home. The food is superb and I love dining here when I have a chance to do so.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4029" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_210007.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Malaysian Chicken Satay &#8211; skewered barbeque meat served with traditional peanut sauce. The chicken meat is well grilled, super tender and complements extremely well with the condiments over the sweet authentic peanut sauce.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4030" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_210422.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Deep Fried Dumpling with minced prawn and chicken. This is a must order dish for those who loves crispy fried stuff. The fillings are just so good that you will want to place a second order.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4031 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_205620.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Sang Ha Noodles &#8211; fried noodles with fresh water prawns &; vegetables in egg sauce. The river prawn is damn succulent and it will depend on the day of the catch to determine the size of the prawn.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4032 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180330_205052.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Fried Beef Noodles &#8211; flat rice noodles with slices beef, ginger and spring onions in egg sauce. Beef lovers will enjoy this dish. The &#8220;wok-mei&#8221; is simply irresistable and that you will literally slurp up the entire gravy before you knew it.</p>
<p>They are much more items on their menu but due to my limited capacity, I have to forgo some of them. ð</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4050" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_162212.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>There is a champion curry puff stall which is a must eat. The curry puff skin is flake-kily good and you will be totally thrown off with the first bite.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4051 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pt2018_03_31_17_28_50.jpg" width="1200" height="1600"></p>
<p>You have to experience it for yourself as it is beyond words description.</p>
<p>After all the foods intake, there is a price to pay to work out those calories and no other better way to do it than to visit the gym to shed it out.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4036 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_095808.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>The Gardens Residence do have a big and spacious gym to cater for their house guest.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4039 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pt2018_03_31_10_51_53.jpg" width="1200" height="1600"></p>
<p>They offer a good selection of training equipment in the gym too.</p>
<p>With a good work out, the food trail continues&#8230;..</p>
<p>Yong Tau Lovers, you are bound to be overwhelmed by this stall.</p>
<p><img class="wp-image-4052 alignnone size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_113803_001.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>This stall offers a wide selection of items and best part of it, the items are huge in size.</p>
<p><img class="wp-image-4053 alignnone size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_113318_mh1522487902302.jpg" width="2160" height="1620"></p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4054 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_114134.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Dried Yong Tau Foo with Chee Cheong Fun. Something unique to check it out.</p>
<p><img class="wp-image-4055 alignnone size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_114157.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Yong Tau Food soup with yellow noodle. The soup base is tastily good.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4056 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_133947.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Little Penang Kafe is another joint for Malaysian cuisine.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4057 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_141337.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Char Kuey Teow (Seafood Special) &#8211; serves with prawns, crab meat, cockles, egg and bean sprout.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4058 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_140324.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee &#8211; a northern favourite. Delicious mee and bee hoon in spicy prawn and chicken stock. Topped with prawns, tender chicken strips and fried onions.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4059 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_165246.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Lorbak a.k.a Ngoh Hiang &#8211; tender chicken rolled in soya bean skin and deep fried to perfection.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4060 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_140446.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Otak-otak, spicy fish steamed in banana leaves.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4061 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_160812.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>There is a Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart outlet here too. Best part of it, no queues. Other than the traditional original flavour tart, they have other variation like; chocolate, matcha with azuki bean, salted egg yolk, strawberry and durain flavours tarts.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4062" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/20180331_165541.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>Prices are definitely more attractive here as compared to back home or even in Bangkok. A tart back home costs $3.50 while in Bangkok, it costs $3.20 and here, it costs about $2.10 each. How could I resist such temptation&#8230;.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4066 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/20180331_202800.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>

<p><img class="alignnone wp-image-4068 size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/20180331_205715.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>

<p>Their beancurd is also smoothingly good.</p>
<p><img class="wp-image-4080 alignnone size-full" src="https://suanmeizai.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/20180401_092711.jpg" width="4032" height="3024"></p>
<p>3 days 2 nights has just passed in a blink of an eye before I knew it. There are still lots of food which I have yet to lay my hands on.</p>
<p>Having said that, considering the short span of time and the achievement that I have had, it has to be commendable with due credit given. ðð</p>
<p>With food lingering in my mind, it will always give me reasons to be back again.</p>
<p>For now, certainly I will leave this place with a heavy heart. Till my next trip and see you soon in my next makan trip next month in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.</p>
